Amanda Fortin

What education have you taken?

This year I will graduate with my Bachelor of Physical Education Studies.

What accomplishments are you proud of?

I have coached basketball in Brandon and Saskatoon for the past four years, including the BU Bobcats summer basketball camp. I have been an Academic All-Canadian in each of my three years at BU, while playing on the Bobcats. I was awarded the President’s Leadership Scholarship (2009) and have volunteered for various organizations with the Bobcats, including the Canadian Cancer Society and The United Way.

Tell me about yourself / your background / your history.

I am from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I came to Brandon four years ago to play basketball and earn my degree. I have been here ever since.

How did you become interested in your field of study?

I have always been interested in all aspects of the medical field and in helping people, so it just seems right to have a career in medicine. Getting to play basketball and earn my degree at BU has been a privilege and something I will never take for granted.

What is your philosophy in life?

To always do well, work hard and have fun. If you do these things, you cannot be disappointed.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I would like to have some kind of career in medicine and travel with my knowledge and skills to poorer countries of the world.
